Please read the accuracy disclaimer. A phone compass is a convenience instrument. Do not rely on this service for marine, aviation, surveying or any other navigation where a heading error could cause harm or loss.

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using Free Digital Compass ("the Service") you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. The service

The Service is a free, browser-based digital compass that reads your device's orientation sensors to display a heading. It requires no installation and no account. It is provided for general informational and recreational use.

3. Accuracy and no professional reliance

Compass readings depend on your device's hardware, its calibration, and the magnetic environment around you. We do not warrant that any heading displayed is accurate.

You must not rely on the Service for marine navigation, aviation, surveying, land-boundary determination, emergency response, or any other activity where navigational error could result in injury, death, or property loss. For such purposes, use calibrated professional instruments and appropriate charts.

4. Acceptable use

  • Use the Service only for lawful purposes.
  • Do not attempt to disrupt, overload, or interfere with the Service.
  • Do not scrape, mirror or republish the Service in a way that misrepresents its origin.
  • Do not reverse engineer or attempt to extract source material for competing commercial redistribution.

5. Intellectual property

The Service, including its design, code and written content, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property law. These Terms do not grant you any right to our trademarks or branding.

6. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY HEADING WILL BE ACCURATE OR RELIABLE.

7. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE SERVICE.

TO THE EXTENT LIABILITY CANNOT BE EXCLUDED, OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY ARISING FROM THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS (US$100).

8. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim or demand, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your misuse of the Service or your breach of these Terms.

9. Availability and changes

We may modify, suspend or discontinue the Service or any feature at any time without notice. We may revise these Terms; continued use after a revision constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Service operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-law provisions. Nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory consumer rights you may have under your local law.
